  • Early Careers

At MAST, we are committed to developing the next generation of teachers and education professionals.

Starting your career in education is an exciting step, and we want colleagues at the beginning of their journey to feel well supported, challenged and encouraged to grow. Across our family of schools, early career staff benefit from strong professional relationships, opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues and access to development beyond their own school.

Our approach is designed to help people build confidence, deepen their practice and develop the knowledge and skills needed for a successful long-term career in education.

    Early Career Teachers

ECTs across MAST are supported through a structured programme of professional development, mentoring and Trust-wide collaboration.

Alongside the statutory Early Career Framework entitlement, ECTs have opportunities to:

    • work with experienced teachers and leaders across the Trust
    • take part in Trust-wide professional development
    • build strong professional networks with other ECTs
    • develop subject and curriculum knowledge
    • observe and learn from effective practice across different schools
    • access additional support where needed

We want every ECT to feel part of a wider professional community, not just the school in which they work.

    Growing Your Career

Joining MAST at the beginning of your career can open up opportunities across a family of schools.

As colleagues develop, there are opportunities to broaden experience, contribute to Trust-wide work, develop subject leadership and progress into wider leadership roles.

We are committed to identifying talent, supporting ambition and creating clear pathways for colleagues who want to develop their careers within MAST.

    Other Early Career Opportunities

Early careers at MAST are not limited to teaching.

Our schools and central teams also provide opportunities for people starting careers in areas such as:

    • HR
    • estates and operations

Wherever someone begins their career with MAST, we want them to have the opportunity to learn, contribute and flourish.
