Welcome to MAST

Welcome to Medway Anglican Schools Trust (MAST).

It is a privilege to lead a growing family of schools united by a shared ambition: that every child is known, every child is enabled, and every child has the opportunity to Belong, Be Safe and Flourish.

At MAST, we believe that schools are strongest when they work together.

Each of our schools has its own history, character and community, and we value that individuality. At the same time, being part of MAST brings the strength of collaboration, shared expertise and collective responsibility.

Our aim is not to make every school the same. It is to ensure that every school has the support, capacity and professional expertise it needs to be the very best version of itself.

Every child known. Every child enabled.

Our work is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: every child should be known and every child should be enabled.

We want children to be recognised as individuals, welcomed into their school community and supported to grow.

Our shared values of Belong, Be Safe and Flourish express the culture we want to create across MAST.

We believe that when children know that they truly belong, they are more able to feel safe; and when they feel safe, they are more able to learn, grow and flourish.

This belief shapes the way we think about education, inclusion, relationships and leadership across the Trust.

Ambitious education

We are ambitious for every child.

Our schools provide a high-quality education that combines strong teaching with rich opportunities for children to develop academically, personally and socially.

We want pupils to leave our schools knowledgeable, confident, resilient and ready for the next stage of their lives.

Across MAST, our curriculum principles help shape this ambition. We want learning to be:

  • knowledge rich;
  • sequenced and progressive;
  • inclusive and accessible;
  • future ready;
  • focused on problem solving; and
  • supportive of character and citizenship.

Most importantly, we want every child to experience success and to understand that their background, starting point or additional needs should never limit our ambition for them.

Stronger together

One of the greatest strengths of MAST is the collective expertise within our schools and Central Team.

Headteachers, teachers, support staff and specialist colleagues work together, learn from one another and share responsibility for improving education across the Trust.

When one school develops excellent practice, we want others to benefit from it.

When one school experiences challenge, it should not have to face that challenge alone.

Our Central Team provides support and professional expertise across school improvement, teaching and learning, inclusion, finance, HR, estates, governance, safeguarding and wider Trust operations.

This allows school leaders to draw on specialist support while remaining focused on their most important responsibility: leading great schools for children.

A Trust of Church and community schools

MAST is proud to include both Church of England and community schools.

Our Christian foundation remains an important part of who we are as a Trust.

Inspired by the words of Isaiah, “I have called you by name; you are mine,” we seek to build communities where no one is overlooked and where every person is valued.

For our Church schools, this is expressed through their distinctive Christian vision, worship, religious education and wider life.

Our community schools bring their own strong identity, ethos and traditions.

What unites all of our schools is a shared commitment to dignity, inclusion, service, high expectations and the flourishing of children and adults.

Investing in our people

Great schools depend upon great people.

We are committed to supporting colleagues at every stage of their careers through professional development, coaching, collaboration and opportunities to work beyond their own setting.

We want MAST to be a place where talented people can build their careers, contribute their expertise and continue to grow.

Developing our people is not separate from improving our schools. It is one of the most important ways in which we do it.

Serving our communities

Our schools are deeply rooted in the communities they serve.

We value strong relationships with families, governors, churches, local partners and the wider community, and we recognise the important role that schools play far beyond the classroom.

As MAST continues to grow, we remain committed to ensuring that our schools retain strong local relationships while benefiting from the capacity and opportunities that come from being part of something larger.

Our Trust motto, Moving Ahead, Serving Together, captures that commitment.

We want to continue moving forward, always learning and improving, while never losing sight of our responsibility to serve children, families and communities.

Looking ahead

I am enormously proud of the commitment of our staff, the leadership within our schools and the children and families who make our communities what they are.

MAST continues to develop, and there is much to be excited about.

As we grow, our focus remains clear: strong schools, excellent teaching, inclusive communities and the very best possible opportunities for every child.

Whether you are a parent considering one of our schools, a colleague looking to join MAST, a governor or Trustee, or a school exploring whether MAST might be the right Trust for your community, I hope this website gives you a sense of who we are and what matters to us.

I warmly invite you to explore our schools and learn more about our work.

If you would like to speak with me directly, I would be very pleased to hear from you.
